Monday Memo: Week of May 7, 2018
You'll find wide coverage of the strike today, including the Washington Post, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Los Angeles Times, CBS News, KQED, Democracy Now, National Public Radio, NBC News, CBS Sacramento, the San Diego Union-Tribune, ABC7 San Diego, CBS Bay Area, the Sacramento Business Journal, and the blog, Remaking the University.
Student-run newspapers are also covering the action: Berkeley's Daily Cal, UCLA's Daily Bruin, Santa Cruz's City on a Hill, Riverside's Highlander, San Diego's Triton, Santa Barbara's Daily Nexus, and an editorial supporting the strike in Davis' Aggie.
Meanwhile, UC has missed the deadline for implementing recommendations from the state auditor that would strengthen transparency and accountability. These were made in the wake of recent scandals, including the revelation that the university was holding $175 million in undisclosed funds. UC's failure drew scorn from the San Diego Union-Tribune, among others.
