UPTE Gets Extra $ for TX/RX
UPTE's tech and researcher (TX/RX) activists and bargainers got UC to put close to an additional $500,000 into our annual pay, and they got it spread out over 50% of the units' employees instead of the 25% UC proposed. The extra raises are as follows:

  • Up to $34,000: 1.95%
  • $34,000 to $35,000: 0.95%
  • $35,000 to $40,000: 0.50%

These ranges are based on the average pay in each job title rather than individual pay, and are effective April 1, 2007. We should see them in our checks by October 24, 2007. See the full list of job titles and raises on the UPTE website.

We succeeded in getting these raises applied equally at all campuses. We also ensured that the pay ranges of job titles move with the raise so that new hires will also benefit from this increase.

Livermore Building Trades Employees Chose UPTE Representation
A majority of the 300 building trades employees working at the Lawrence Livermore National Lab signed cards for UPTE-CWA representation. PERB, the state labor board, has certified our majority, and we are now demanding that UC begin negotiating immediately.

A new limited liability company led by UC takes over management of the lab on October 1, 2007. The building trades and all other employees at Lawrence Livermore are extremely concerned that they will face cuts to their pension and benefits when they are converted to private employees. We will all work together to protect their hard-earned benefits.

HX Contract Ratification and Implementation
We are currently collecting data on the years of relevant service for all our HX members. We have an additional meeting with UC regarding equity adjustments in August and want to especially make a case for equity increases for those individuals with many years of experience who are still relatively low in the pay range.

If you have not yet provided information on your work history, please do so right away by contacting your UPTE activists and staff . We will be having medical center and department meetings at all locations to prepare for our systemwide meeting with UC. Your input will make a difference.
