Our union, our raises: Honor the 2025 raises for newly-added titles
In November 2025, nearly 12,000 members of University Professional and Technical Employees voted 98% in favor of a new agreement with the University of California that addressed key demands, including fair pay, work-life balance, job security, and career advancement. While this included retroactive pay for a 2025 2% step and an across-the-board raise of at least 5% for all UPTE members, UC has excluded newly added titles from receiving the substantial 2025 raises outlined by our tentative agreement. By failing to provide these raises, UC has unfairly cut out the professionals who needed these adjustments the most.
This refusal to follow our contract is unacceptable and signals that UC is not committed to addressing the long-standing staffing crises for Acupuncturists, Audio-Visual Information Technology Engineers, Clinical Documentation Specialists, Communication & Network Technology Analysts, Environmental Health & Safety Specialists, Infection Prevention Coordinators, Massage Therapists, Pathology Assistants, Patient Navigators, Quality Improvement Specialists, Research and Development Engineer 5s, Systems Integration Engineers, and User Experience Designers.
UC must take immediate action to place newly added titles on the compensation schedule ratified by thousands of our coworkers. We, the undersigned, demand that the University agree to honor our agreement by providing newly added titles with the 2025 raises given to all UPTE members.
