Despite making painful cuts to healthcare and research while crying poverty at every opportunity, UC is barreling ahead with new hospital acquisitions and capital expenditures at a breakneck pace while deprioritizing state-mandated modernization, renewal, and seismic retrofitting projects. The facts seem to contradict UC’s justification for its capital expenditures. So then where’s the discrepancy?
