College of the Sequoias Adjunct Faculty Association/UPTE ratifies new contract

Between September 17 and 24, 112 part-time faculty members of College of the Sequoias Adjunct Faculty Association/University Professional and Technical Employees (COSAFA/UPTE) cast their ballots to ratify our new contract with the administration and the Board of Trustees at College of the Sequoias. Now, it goes to the Board of Trustees for a final vote.

We’re proud that COSAFA/UPTE members at College of the Sequoias cast a ballot, unanimously voting yes to support our proposals to win a strong contract at the public community college in the San Joaquin Valley.

Remember, it’s our collective strength that helped us achieve our new contract. Together, we can continue building a stronger, more inclusive union that represents the goals and priorities of every COSAFA/UPTE member at College of the Sequoias.

  • 2.07% hourly rate increase, retroactive to August 1. California Community College published COLA + 1 for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 academic years

    10, 15, and 20-year longevity steps added to the payscale

    25% increase in each large lecture pay step

    Lecture rate for noninstructional faculty

    Doubled class cancellation stipend and extended it to two weeks before the semester starts

    Fairer pay for lab set up and clean up (pending Dean approval)

    Increases for coaches

    Increase in the Faculty Enrichment Committee and Office Hour budgets

    Fairer pay to complete Distance Education training for those who are required to teach online 

    Fair sick leave pay in the event you run out

  • Year-long unpaid leave of absence

    Clarification on involuntary breaks in service now includes not being offered a class that fits your availability.

    Updated evaluation forms that are more equitable, more objective, and simpler
