Receive better retirement benefits if you were hired after July 1, 2013. You will join the 2013 Modified UCRP pension tier, allowing retirement as early as age 50 (with full benefits by age 60). There are no changes to retirement benefits for those hired (or rehired following a break in service of less than 120 days) before July 1, 2013. UPTE-represented employees contribute 9% of salary to the University of California Retirement Plan.
